SUMMARY:October Large Group 🎬
DESCRIPTION:Movies and film can often be found at the center of culture\, reflecting the current time and place when it was created\, offering critiques or echo chambers. But how can Christians engage with film in meaningful ways while remaining discerning? Come to large group to find out! \nPlease join us for October Large Group at the Life Together House from 6pm-8:30pm! We will have guest speaker Prof. Pearce Durst speak on the topic of Christianity and its representation through media in movies and film. Specifically\, we will be focusing on the 1986 movie “The Mission”\, which follows the Jesuit ministry to the native Guarani tribe located in modern day Paraguay. The ministry quickly faces ensuing challenges presented by the colonial powers of Spain and Portugal alongside concerns from the church back in Europe. \nWe will cater food for dinner\, eating from 6pm-7pm\, and beginning the talk at 7pm. \nIt is heavily suggested that you watch the “The Mission” (1986) in preparation for the large group! It can be found on Youtube at this link: \n \n
