Grab a buddy (or a few, but be safe) and join us for a photo scavenger hunt adventure! Your team of two should include at least one person who is comfortable both with climbing trees and with having their picture taken while doing so. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, begins at sunrise and ends at 4 pm. During this time, you will compete to win bragging rights in one of the following categories:
- “Most trees climbed”
- Winner determined by photocount. Each picture must show at least one team member in a tree (i.e. body fully supported by tree alone), and only one such picture per tree shall be counted.
- “Most tree varieties photographed”
- Winner determined by photocount. Each picture must show a tree in enough detail to identify distinguishing features, and only one such picture per tree variety shall be counted.
- “Funniest pose in/near tree”
- -Each picture must show at least one team member and at least one tree. Props are permitted. Each contesting team must clearly designate a single* photo for consideration in this category when submitting their pictures. Winner determined by popular vote at closing ceremony (see below). In case of a tie, bonus points will come into consideration. In case of continued tie, the judge will unapologetically and subjectively select a winner.
- “Most # of favorite C-U places photographed”
- Winner determined by photocount. Each photo must show at least one team member as well as one, and only one, favorite C-U place. The name of the place shall be submitted along with the picture if the name is not apparent in the photo, and only one such picture per place shall be counted.
- “People’s choice”
- This category is for unique and beautiful pictures featuring nature and the C-U area. Each contestant team must clearly designate a single* photo for consideration in this category when submitting their pictures. Winner determined by popular vote at closing ceremony (see below). In case of a tie, bonus points will come into consideration. In case of continued tie, the judge will unapologetically and subjectively select a winner.
There will be a virtual closing ceremony at 7 PM which will begin the September Large Group meeting of GCF. Your beautiful and funny pictures will be on display for voting from 7-7:15. Winners will be announced immediately thereafter. If you are unable to attend the ceremony, highlight pictures will be posted online.
Register your team by Thursday, September 25th . When you register, you will receive a link to send in your pictures, as well as a zoom link to the closing ceremony (This will be the same zoom link as for the Large Group meeting). All pictures must be taken and sent in between sunrise and 4pm Saturday, September 26, 2020.
*Based upon the number of teams participating, this number may increase. Contestants will be notified on Friday, September 25 th , with a final determination. Photos will be counted toward all applicable categories except “Funniest pose” and “People’s choice”, which must be marked as stated above. A picture marked for either of those categories will be counted towards all other applicable categories. One bonus point will be awarded to a team for each individual who has never climbed a tree before (even if they don’t climb a tree), and one bonus point for each individual who helps someone else to safely interact with a tree for the first time (a picture of that interaction is required; and please see Caleb for more details).
